Keeping Safe at Your home
I have spent a lot of time speaking with lots of house owners recently about the security in their home. I am working to acquire some insight on different ways that our homes can be threatened. I asked each person I spoke with if they had ever experienced any suspicious actions on their property. It could have been burglary, a broken window, a suspicious person – anything really. I was surprised that almost everybody had a story. Many of the stories would lead them to purchase a alarm system. I have learned that Home Security Kansas is the option many have decided on.
One man told me that he had been home for the afternoon, but then left to go pick his little boy up from football practice. When he and his son returned approximately 10 minutes later, one of the windows was broken and things were missing inside. He suspected that he was being watched, and the robber knew when he left. A different mother of three explained that she once answered the door for a person who claimed to be a salesperson. After the guy pitched his sale, he then asked if he could talk it over with her inside. She declined, and the man replied by asking if he could still come inside and use her telephone. Because this man was being persistent, she declined again and shut the door in his face.
We have all had our encounters with shady people and situations. Some are worse than others, like the first man’s experience. The information I am analyzing helps me figure out what motivates people to purchase a burglar alarm. The woman said she quickly elected to get one the following day.
I have learned about many similar stories from other families. People never truly know what is going to happen on a given day. I am convinced these people did not wake up that morning thinking something unusual would happen later that day. It definitely highlights the value in always being prepared.
